Tip #2 - Select Your Options Carefully...(then stand behind those decisions)

It’s in everyone’s best interest to submit the fewest number of ‘change order’ requests as possible.

We have been lucky enough to have a break ground date out in June(part of our negotiation) so we have not been under the gun to finalize our selections, but I tell everyone to think outside the box. It doesn't have to be on the standard options list to upgrade it or change it. There are some things that you may get a NO on, but it can't hurt to ask and get a price for it and just because you ask for a price does not mean you have to add it. We made a bunch of custom changes and there were a couple we got prices on and decided not to do. I do agree that once you make that decision stick with it.
